Grace Irene Escott died with family members by her side at the age of 83.
Mrs. Escott was born to Frederick and Louise White in London, England. She married Tom Escott in 1954, and the couple relocated to California in 1967 with their three children. In 1970, they moved to The Salvation Army Camp Redwood Glen in Scotts Valley, where they served for 26 years.

She was a compassionate and caring person, family said, who enjoyed visiting the residents of local rest homes to bring the Gospel message in word and song.
Mrs. Escott also served as secretary at Garfield Park Village and later was the activities director at The Salvation Army Silvercrest Retirement Community. In later years, she and her husband lived in Felton and became members of the Felton Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir.
Mrs. Escott is survived by her husband of 58 years, Tom Escott of Santa Cruz; her children, Mark Escott of Pacifica, Sharon Torchio of Santa Cruz, and Jonathan Escott of Santa Cruz; and eight grandchildren.
