A celebration of life is pending for longtime Boulder Creek resident John Michael Baker, who died Sept. 24 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto following injuries suffered in a car accident. He was 64.
The youngest of 10 brothers and sisters, Mr. Baker was known as Mike Baker in the San Lorenzo Valley area.
Family said he loved music and dancing and supported artists in the community. He was known as a caring man who loved helping those in need, including with a place to stay for the night.
Mr. Baker would stop at Rainbows End in Boulder Creek each morning for coffee and a doughnut before going to work at Cisco Systems, where he worked as an electronics engineer. Relatives said he was a mentor and friend to many and could always bee seen wearing his cowboy hat and boots.
He is survived by two children, Rachael Baker of Oklahoma and Onie Baker of San Francisco, and nine brothers and sisters in Oklahoma and Texas.
Cremated remains will be sent to Oklahoma and Boulder Creek.
