New owners take over pizza shop
Santa Cruz Pizza Co. in Scotts Valley is under new ownership.
Chad and Amanda Bell of Scotts Valley took control of the restaurant, at 18-B Victor Square, on Nov. 17.
No immediate changes are planned while the Bells, who are first-time small-business owners, get acquainted.
The Bells moved from Columbus, Ohio, in July 2011, and Chad Bell will continue working as a complex risk officer at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in Scotts Valley.
The couple plans to have a grand-opening celebration in the spring.

Pottery sale with jazz
Hennig’s Pottery, 211 Grove St., in Boulder Creek, will host the Jazz Skylarks during a one-day studio sale Sunday, Dec. 2.
The pottery sale will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with live music from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Housing development donates PJs
City Ventures, the builder of Scotts Valley Town Center Collection townhomes, partnered with the nonprofit Pajama Program to donate 73 pairs of pajamas, seven pairs of pajama pants, a book and two blankets to homeless shelters in Santa Cruz County.
The developers collected donations during the month of October.
Hospital honored
Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz was named one of “America’s 100 best hospitals for orthopedic surgery” by Healthgrades, a consumer health watchdog that helps customers make informed decisions about physicians and hospitals.
The report evaluated how 4,500 hospitals nationwide performed from 2009 to 2011 in terms of complication and mortality rates for various conditions and procedures.
