Marlee McGuffick and Nathan Sargent

Marlee McGuffick and Nathan Sargent, who met at San Lorenzo Valley Middle School, were married Sept. 30 at Roaring Camp Railroads in Felton.
Nathan is the son of Rick and Kathy Sargent of Ben Lomond. He graduated from San Lorenzo High School in 2005 and works in construction, specializing in custom tile and natural stone fabrication and installation.
Marlee is the daughter of Lori Colman of Ben Lomond and James McGuffick of Ivoryton, Conn. A 2005 San Lorenzo High School graduate, she works as a hair stylist at Elements Salon and Spa in Scotts Valley.
The wedding ceremony was on the lawn in front of Bret Harte Hall in Roaring Camp. The bride and groom stood under an arbor designed and built by Nathan, decorated with fall flowers by Alli Gripenstraw.
The fall theme was carried out with pumpkins and sunflowers outside and inside the venue. Inside the hall, the table centerpieces added to the rustic ambiance, with red lanterns adorned with fresh and dried flowers, designed and created by Anita Gwin.
Bob Burnett played jazz guitar during the ceremony and was later joined by vocalist Sacha Landry and other band members for the reception. Close family friend Grant Purdy, who now lives in Sweden, and Marlee’s brother Ian McGuffick, who now resides in Seattle, DJ’d later in the evening.
Marlee wore a silk wedding dress designed and sewn by Mackenzie Purdy, a close friend since childhood, who works in Santa Monica as a clothing designer. Two other friends, Courtney Kruger and Whitney Otto, artistically presented appetizers and cupcakes.
