EDITOR,
A few years ago we were told that the Scotts Valley Town Center shopping center would be just like Santana Row in San Jose. Now we are told the Town Center will be just like the Safeway shopping center across the street from Santana Row. The assumption is that Scotts Valley should use San Jose as a model for commercial and residential development. At a meeting with local residents, the Orange County developer of the Town Center condominiums being built near the proposed Town Center shopping center said that all the construction jobs were filled by workers from (you guessed it) San Jose, and they would only use locals for landscaping. Clearly, our civic leaders want develop Scotts Valley just like San Jose. Is that what is best for our local community?
