The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, April 30, offered a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of fugitive Dimitri Storm.
Storm, 42, is sought in connection with a month-long string of car thefts, burglaries and high-speed chases throughout the Central Coast.
According to April Skalland, deputy for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, the last time Storm was seen was 8:30 p.m. April 25. Skalland said a resident of Darma Ridge Road in the Summit Road area reported d a man — later identified as Storm — was sitting in a gray Ford Ranger pickup on the resident’s property.
When confronted by the resident, Skalland said, Storm allegedly said he was looking for a place to sleep and drove away without incident.
The truck was found abandoned at 9:30 a.m. the following morning near a home on Pauhana Drive in Soquel. A white 1995 Nissan Xterra was reported stolen the same day from a resident on the same street.
Storm is alleged to have stolen more than a dozen vehicles and burglarized several more in Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Mateo, Marin and Sonoma counties. He is also alleged to have threatened police officers and evaded capture in high-speed pursuits in Marin County and in the Big Sur area.
Anyone with information about Storm’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office at 454-2414 or dial 911.
