Powder puff game today
Scotts Valley High School will host a Powder Puff Football game, pasta feed and Mr.
Scotts Valley High School pageant at 5 p.m., today, Friday, May 17 at the school, 555
Glenwood Drive. The cost for the flag football game is $5 for adults, $3 for students
without ASB and $2 for students with ASB cards. The pasta feed begins at 6:30 p.m.
at the Student Union building and will feature the Mr. SVHS competition. Cost is $8
for adults, $6 for students without ABS and $4 with ASB. Proceeds will benefit the
American Cancer Society.
Swimmer and divers earn team awards
The San Lorenzo Valley boys and girls swimming and diving teams earned awards for
the 2013 season. For the varsity boys team: MVP: Jacob Kersten; Coaches Award: Sam
Van Pykeren and Josh Felts. For the varsity girls: MVP: Hayley Smith; Coaches Award:
Char Steinberg and Danielle Chabot; Most Improved: Brooke Fultz. For the junior varsity
boys, MVP: Ryland Denny; Coaches Award: Daniel Guarente and Kyle Gilbert; Most
Improved: Tryston Cruz. For the junior varsity girls: MVP: Marie Schoepp; Coaches
Award: Sarah Townsend; Most Improved: Addie Brinker. For varsity diving, Coaches
Award: Aliana Rosario and for junior varsity diving, Most Improved: Ronin Olson.
Separately, junior varsity swimmer Ryland Denny broke the school record in the 100
individual medley, swimming 1 minute, 9.5 seconds, breaking Jacob Kerstens record of
1 minute, 10.57 seconds in 2011. The junior varsity swimmers swim the 100 IM and the
varsity swimmer swim the 200 IM.
