Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley
During the month of May, the Kiwanis Club awarded its annual Scotts Valley High School Citizenship Award to student Benjamin Roumimper. The club also awarded its Mike Smith $2,500 and Grabill $1,000 Scholarships. This month the club performed clean up of its section of Highway 17.
The club was presented with a Distinguished Club Award from Kiwanis International, and was the only Kiwanis Club in the regional division to qualify for the prestigious award. In June club members will present the Most Improved Student Awards at Scotts Valley Middle School.
Kiwanis continues to enlist sponsors for the upcoming 5th annual Music at Skypark summer concert series to benefit the music programs in Scotts Valley’s schools.
The club meets at 7 a.m. each Wednesday morning at Bruno’s BBQ, 230-G Mount Hermon Road. The second Wednesday of each month is a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Bruno’s. All are welcome. For information: www.svkiwanis.org
 
Scotts Valley Rotary Club
The club recently completed local street cleaning and Scotts Valley High School beautification projects and gave laptop computers to four Scotts Valley Middle School students, each of whom completed a five-hour training course on its use and care.

Scotts Valley Exchange Club
The club gave a $500 scholarship to the most improved local student Ella Summers last week. The award was presented at the school award presentation ceremony by Chris Perri.
The club is planning its annual golf tournament fundraiser. Contact the club to play or to sponsor the tournament.
Exchange meets the second Wednesday of each month for lunch at Mint, 4652 Scotts Valley Drive, and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Road. San Lorenzo Valley Rotary Club
Seven club members gathered on Saturday, May 18 to clean up the landscaping at Felton Community Hall. The 1980 Fiat that the club raffled off as a fundraiser was featured in the Felton Remembers Parade on Saturday, May 25. The drawing was held at the Covered Bridge Park following the parade. On Thursday, May 30 the club gave two scholarships to senior students at San Lorenzo Valley High School. Also, the club will award a second computer to a SLV student.
The club meets on Wednesdays at 7:15 a.m. in Birch Dining Room at 37 Conference Drive at Mount Hermon Conference Center. Cost is $10. Upcoming guests are: Mary and Linda, Program Planning on June 5; Daniel Williford, Native Plants on June 12; a club assembly on June 19 and the President debunking with no meeting at Mount Hermon on June 26.
 
Scotts Valley Host Lions Club
Scotts Valley Lions Club’s held its second Annual Bocce Ball Tournament in Skypark in April. The wining team was the Underhand Gang.
On June 1 the Vista Center will hold its annual Woof to Woof event. The Lions Club will be bringing out their Sight Screening Van. The club will conduct vision screening with a local optometrist, free of charge. Anyone can stop by for an exam.
Club members continue to serve lunches at the Scotts Valley Senior Center twice a week. Upcoming, on June 29 the club will help the Assisted Living Project to clean and paint the exterior of their building.
