Shultz

 
A celebration to remember the life of San Lorenzo Valley resident Clare Jyothi McCormick (Shultz) will be held Saturday, June 8 in Santa Cruz. She died in a hospice cottage in Soquel in the presence of her daughter and sister. She was 39.
Ms. Shultz was born at home in Tustin and lived in Southern California for the first three years of her life and then resided at various locations within the San Lorenzo Valley through last year.
She gave birth to her daughter Caitlin Mae in 1992 and was married to Caitlin’s father Robert McCuiston in Ben Lomond in 1998 and they remained friends for the rest of her life.
Ms. Shultz worked as a grocery buyer for twelve years at New Leaf Community Market in Boulder Creek. Co-workers appreciated her terrific sense of humor and her attention to detail.
During the last several months she lived at The Land of Medicine Buddha. While in hospice, Mrs. McCormick exchanged vows of spiritual commitment with her soul-mate Alan Rice.
She is survived by her daughter, Caitlin Mae McCuiston; parents Karen and Mickey
McCormick; grandmother Germaine Sundstrom; Alan Rice; Robert McCuiston, all residents of Santa Cruz County; brothers: Sid McCormick of Salinas; Shanti McCormick, Emrys McCormick, Elaeth McCormick, and Ashoka McCormick; and her sister, Rohanna McCord, also all residents of Santa Cruz County; six nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
Ms. Shultz ashes were dropped in the waters of Monterey Bay on May 18. A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at the
Seymour Marine Discovery Center, 100 Shaffer Road in Santa Cruz. All are welcome. 
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the “In Memory of Clare” Fund (to benefit Caitlin McCuiston) which has been established at Liberty Bank, Account No. 03020562, in Felton.
