7- and 8-year-old All Stars
Scotts Valley 9, Santa Cruz American 3
In a tight contest for the District 39 championship, Scotts Valley worked out of many jams to capture the win. One highlight was a double play in the third inning. After a base hit to center field by Santa Cruz American, Scotts Valley center fielder Dash Finn hit the cutoff Matty Solis, who threw the ball to home plate for the first out. Catcher Rowan Zesut then threw to third baseman Carter Zeip who put the tag on the sliding runner to complete the double play. Isaiah Fusari pitched for the third out of the inning. Scotts Valley went 4-0 during the season-ending tournament.
11- and 12-year-old All Stars
Scotts Valley 12, Live Oak 2
Scotts Valley scored five runs in the bottom of the first and went on to win after four innings by mercy rule on Saturday, June 22.
Ryan Bariteau started for Scotts Valley and allowed no earned runs over 3 innings while striking out 3 and Philip Garrison closed with a perfect fourth inning.
Trevor Stocker had a solo homer, a double, and drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly. Garrett Hormel went 2-for-2, with a double, drove in three and scored three times.
