The San Lorenzo Valley Chamber of Commerce this week, announced the winners of its 2013 SLV Community Awards.
The chamber will hold an awards presentation at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 at Oak Tree Ristorante, 5447 Highway 9 in Felton.
The awards, according to the Chamber, highlight the spirit of community activism and volunteerism by honoring people and organizations who have made significant and positive impacts on the community.
Man and Woman of the Year
Bill Burton and Annette Marcum were honored for enriching the community through long-standing involvement and generosity.
Burton was honored for his commitment and dedication towards restoring the Felton Covered Bridge. Marcum, the founder of Valley Churches United Missions, was honored for serving those in need in the SLV for 40 years.
Business of the Year
Liberty Bank was honored for supporting the business community in the SLV for 25 years
Community Organization of the Year
Mountain Parks Foundation has sustained local state parks through education, fundraising, and events for many years.
“Civic activism is essential to the well-being of our valley, it helps keep our businesses and community organizations healthy,” said Chamber President Bryan Chambers in a statement. “We are proud to have people like Annette and Bill, and organizations like Liberty Bank and Mountain Parks Foundation in our midst.”
