Letter: Second Amendment in place to guarantee against tyranny

EDITOR,
In response to Julie Hendriks’ letter from November 29 (“Gun violence persists 50 years after JFK assassination”), I’d like to say that idiots and jerks are also allowed to vote, which can also be considered a travesty.
However, the Founding Fathers provided us a way to rise against our government should it become oppressive, which is codified in the 2nd Amendment.
Who gets to decide who should or shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun? King George III decided that the Patriots couldn’t.
