UPDATE, Thursday, March 20: The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office have determined that the report that a 15-year-old girl was assaulted while walking home from school was a hoax. After completing an interview with the teen victim, she recanted her previous story due to inconsistencies.

Teen girl assaulted while walking in Felton
A 15-year-old girl was reportedly assaulted while walking home from San Lorenzo Valley High School on Tuesday afternoon.
A male, described as being approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build and wearing a large, black long-sleeved sweatshirt, came from behind the girl and grabbed her sweatshirt. The girl pulled her arms out of the sweatshirt and broke free from the man’s grip. The man then grabbed her by the shirt. The girl twisted out of her shirt and ran away from the man until she was able to contact friends and call the Sheriff’s Office.
The assault took place at about 4:30 p.m. on Hacienda Way near El Solyo Heights Drive in Felton.
The Sheriff’s Office is conducting extra patrols in the area and as of Thursday morning, knows of no other events related to the incident. Deputies are also working with the high school and conducting a thorough investigation of the incident.
