SLV Little Leaguers raised more than $11,000 in the league’s inaugural Hit-A-Thon on Sunday, March 23.
More than 100 players came out dressed in full uniforms and players got to hit and receive prizes for donations, long-distance hits, and for participation. The money raised will sustain low prices and pay for equipment, insurance, and upgraded facilities. Organizer Nick Purtscher thanked the entire Valley community for its effort and generosity.
Majors Division
Dodgers 14, Braves 6
The Braves’ 10-year-old Jackson Parmenter had a bases-clearing double and the first solo home run of his life in the loss to the Dodgers 
Minors Division
Red Sox 4, Tigers 2
Ryan Hodge struck out eight in the first four innings for the Sox. For the Tigers Robbie Matajcich tripled and drove in a run.
Scotts Valley Little League
AAA Division
Cardinals 8, Cubs 1
Cole Leonard of the Cubs and the Nicolas Sutter of the Cardinals were locked in a pitching duel into the 4th when the Cardinals scored four times on an inside the park grand slam by Jonatan Nava-Campos. The Cubs were led by Patrick Goodrich who was 2-for-2 at the plate. Ian Eisenhut combining with Sutter to hold the Cubs to one run.
Braves 6, Cubs 3
Adrie Ruf and Carson Codiga threw well for the Braves. Sendhur Suresh and Brendan Bowman had RBI singles and Nick Del Mar broke open a 3-3 game with a 3-run triple. Isaiah Velez and Gabe Spitzer pitched well for the Cubs and Cole Leonard hit a triple and made several run-saving catches.
Majors Division
Nationals 23, White Sox 2
Anthony Abruzzini, Tyler Rehnberg, and Evan Foy had three hits each for the Nats and Arthur Soto went 5-for-5 with a grand slam. For the Sox, Kyle Smith, Zephyr Christensen, Masa Sato, Connor McEntee and Josh Hollingsworth all had hits.
Padres 16, Tigers 4
Padre Shane Burns allowed two hits, a run and had five strikeouts in three innings. Tim Miller had a great catch in left field and scored a run while Samuel McNeely and Mitchell Ross added hits and scored a run. Jack Matty was 4-for-5 and Shane and Sören Burns each added 3 hits each.
Casey Collins tripled for the Tigers and Jostin Barber, Carson McElrone, Blake Engelking and Jaden Meulman added hits. Abdoulaye Sow scored and Robert Hipwell hit a double.
Pirates 9, Padres 1
Pirates pitchers Nick Endres and Bryce Gundersen combined for 12 strikeouts and Bryce Gunderson, Dillon Danner, Weber Stemm, David Foxx and Matt Stone all hit singles. Webber Stemme had a great catch in the outfield.
SV Pirates 12, SLV Braves 2
Josh Mahoney, Dillon Danner and Ashton Gundrup pitched well for the Pirates and Veronica Reynolds had a ground-rule double and two RBIs. David Foxx had a double.
For the Braves, Aiden Rich had two hits and Nick Thorne hit a double. Jackson Parmenter, Jackson Kite and Zach Kanter all hit singles.
A’s 14 to White Sox 0
Dylan Leonard, Jackson Sutter and Patrick Sweeney combined for 6 shut-out innings for the A’s on the mound and Brody Affolter added an inside the park 2-run homerun.
