Maxwell sets 3,200 record
San Lorenzo Valley High School senior Anna Maxwell set the Santa Cruz County record in the 3,200 meter run at the Arcadia Invitational on April 12 in Arcadia. Maxwell took fourth in the race, but shattered the previous county record by running 10:04.84. Maxwell was less than a second behind the second and third place finishers.
 
Scotts Valley tops SLV on court
The Scotts Valley varsity boys volleyball team defeated San Lorenzo Valley 3-1 on Monday, April 14.
The Falcons lost the first game 24-26 before winning the next three 25-15, 25-19, 28-26.  
Brett Turner led Scotts Valley with 15 kills, followed by Ryan Rodriguez with 10 and Bryce Einck with 9. Steve Lonhart had 30 assists and three blocks while Jonathan Chiu had four blocks. Turner and Tanner Simonovich had two blocks each for the Falcons and Simonovich led the team with three aces.
For SLV, Brighton Hart and Davon Northcutt had 12 kills apiece, Mitchell Kamau had 15 digs and Northcutt had three blocks.
Scotts Valley is 7-4 overall and 4-4 in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play.
 
Girls comp soccer tryout
The Scotts Valley/San Lorenzo Valley Pride under-17 soccer team will hold an open tryout from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at Skypark in Scotts Valley.
The competitive club team is for girls ages 14 to 16 born after August 31, 1997.
