Press-Banner reporter Joe Shreve has been named interim editor of the Press-Banner, effective April 8.
Shreve succeeds editor Peter Burke, who is taking a position in Mountain View.
“Joe will do a great job continuing to serve the readers of Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley,” Burke said. “He’s a strong, factual and fair reporter and he’s ready to take on the challenges of being the public face of the paper.”
Shreve, 30, is a graduate of San Lorenzo Valley High School (2002) and Humboldt State University where he earned a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. He worked as a copy editor at the Eureka Reporter in Eureka and became a reporter at the Press-Banner in November 2010.
Shreve will serve as interim editor while Tank Town Media, which owns the Press-Banner, completes a hiring process to fill the open staff position.
Burke, who took a position working for Google News in Mountain View, has been with the Press-Banner since 2007. He served as an intern before being hired in September 2007 as a full-time reporter. He became sports editor, before being named editor in July 2009.
The Press-Banner has a weekly circulation of 16,250 and mails to almost every home in Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley.
