I am writing in response to the letter supporting Jim Hart. I do not know Jim Hart, nor do I know Roger Wildey.
I have heard Wildey speak, however, and what I found impressive about him is not only his formal education, but his ability to articulate the issues he feels are the highest priority in the county.
He has a vision for the Sheriff’s department, and a plan to carry out that vision. He recognizes that there are different needs in the wide variety of communities within our county and wishes to address those appropriately.
He brought to light that often there are fewer than seven deputies patrolling the entirety of the unincorporated areas of our county, and that the deputies do not have the essential equipment in their cars such as GPS.
Wildey believes it is essential for deputies to have the same mapping system in their cars as dispatchers so as to coordinate their units for swift and safe responses.
Our community faces issues such as the increase in violence, gang activity, and rampant drug abuse.
With the mandate to reduce prison populations, many dangerous prisoners will be released from prison early into our community.
Crime will increase, so it is urgent to make realistic plans to deal with this through increased and essential training.
Check out www.WildeyForSheriff.com and like him on Facebook, where he addresses these issues and more concerning our communities.
He is a man of vision and of integrity, as I found listening to several deputies and those who have worked with him. They spoke of his leadership qualities, his knowledge and expertise to carry through.
It concerns me that we might overlook this very qualified person with a vision for improving the Sheriff’s department for the continued policies of the current administration.
This is why I am voting for Roger Wildey for Sheriff.
