Clifford Hedberg passed away peacefully at his Scotts Valley home, surrounded by his family, on May 1, 2014, at the age of 90.
Hedberg was born in Gilroy on Jan. 1, 1924 to Clifford Windfield Hedberg and Kathleen Jannet Gwynn and graduated from Salinas High School.
From 1943 to 1946, he served as an aircraft radio repairman in the U.S. Army Air Corps’ 535th Air Service Group during WWII, during which time he attained the rank of sergeant.
After the war, he worked for PG&E in Moss Landing as an electrical foreman and retired after 35 years.
Through the years, he has called many places home, including Gilroy, Salinas, Watsonville, Grass Valley, Yuba City and, most recently, Scotts Valley.
Hedberg is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lefonda “Lee” Hedberg; son Michael (Richele) Hedberg; daughter Kerry Lou Hedberg; stepdaughter Kathleen (Ed) Howe; daughter-in-law Kathleen Hedberg; sister-in-law Mary Hedberg; five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Cliff A. Hedberg, on March 14, 2014; brother Donald Hedberg; and his parents, Clifford and Kathleen Hedberg.
Burial with Military Honors will take place at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W McCabe Rd., Santa Nella, Calif., on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2:30 p.m.
