EDITOR,
In reference to Carole Summers’ Aug. 24 letter (“Senior fed up with the SPCA”) and the many follow-up letters:
I encourage anyone, especially seniors, who would like to adopt a pet for free to visit the Animal Friends Rescue Project Web site at www.animalfriendsrescue.org. Look at the cats and dogs that are up for adoption and search for “compassionate choice.”
These animals have all their shots and are spayed or neutered, but they have been waiting for a home for a long time, usually because they are older. For these animals, AFRP waives the usual adoption fee.
Everyone wins: A senior gets a healthy companion for free, a deserving pet gets a home.
