To the editor:
I am announcing that I will not seek re-election to the office of Fire Director of the Scotts Valley Fire Protection District. After three elections and eight years serving the Scotts Valley Fire District, it has been a privilege to serve the citizens of the district. To all who have supported me-too numerous to list, I owe you a great debt of gratitude for placing your trust in me. To the Scotts Valley Fire Protection District Firefighters Local 3577, thank you for letting me serve you. Special thanks to former firefighter John Stone for his faith in me in 2002. To Fire Chief Mike McMurray, thank you for getting me up to speed in the early years. To Fire Chief Dan Grebil, Battalion Chiefs and Administrative staff, good luck and continue the legacy of a great fire department.
To the past and present fire board members, (Steve Perez, Dene Bustichi, Richard Clark, Art Smith, Alan Smith, Josh Warren and Jane Armstrong) thank you for the memories and friendship through good and bad times. It is not easy making decisions that affect the employees and citizens of the district.
The support of my wife (Belinda) and daughter (Katelyn) for three campaigns and meetings for eight years cannot be truly expressed in words. I will now spend time with my family, friends and truly be retired to enjoy life. Thank you all for letting me serve you.
