Felton Library hours change
The Felton Library is now open Tuesday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m.
After budget cuts earlier this year, the library had been open Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m., but some evening patrons were not able to access the library before 5.
Bethany inaugurates Shelton as president
Bethany University will inaugurate the Rev. Lewis Shelton as the 14th president in the school’s 90-year history. The formal installation will be in the Redwood Auditorium on the Bethany University Campus on at 11 a.m. Oct. 9.
Shelton served as interim president from August 2008 to January 2009 and accepted the post as full-time president at the beginning of the year.
Following the ceremony, a luncheon will be served for guests who have RSVP’d.

Scotts Valley recycling appliances and tires
Scotts Valley residents can drop off old tires, wheel rims, refrigerators, washers, dryers, water heaters and other metal appliances for free from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 10 across the street from the fire station at 7 Erba Lane.
No TVs, computers or furniture will be accepted. Scrap metal from appliances will be melted and made into new products, and tires will be ground into small pieces for rubber playground surfaces and floor mats.
