Daniel Kryst
May 9, 1956 to August 24, 2014
Daniel Kryst passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 in his home surrounded by loving family after a difficult battle with cancer.
Dan was born on May 9, 1956 in Santa Cruz to Richard and Nancy Kryst.
He grew up in the San Lorenzo Valley, graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School, and had many lifelong friends in the area.
Dan began his career as a journeyman carpenter in the Santa Cruz area, and continued in this profession after moving to Murphys with his wife Beth (Keeler) Kryst in 1986.
He also became a contractor around this time. He loved making and fixing anything, spending time with his family and many friends, camping, the outdoors, his many pets, and helping others.
He had the best smile ever, and was well-known for the positive power of it. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Beth (Keeler) Kryst; his two sons, Michael Kryst and Kyle Kryst; his mother, Nancy (Nerney) Kryst; his brothers, Barry Kryst, Dale Kryst, and Terry Kryst; his sister, Norah (Kryst) Hogue, and eighteen nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Kryst and two brothers, Doug and Mathew Kryst.
There will be a celebration of life for Dan sometime in the spring of 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Calaveras Humane Society or Hospice.
An informal remembrance luncheon for Dan Kryst is planned for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the VFW Hall at 2259 7th Avenue in Santa Cruz.
Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
