Obituary

Mike Edward

April 14, 1953 to April 11, 2015
Mike was a racer! He walked at 8 1/2 months and never stopped. He took his last race on April 11, 2015, with family and friends waving him on.
He endured a long eight-year race, never missing a beat. To those who new him, Mike was never a quitter, and determination was his long suit.
A miracle by medical definition, we take this opportunity to thank the pharmaceutical houses, Genentech, etc., and all who pushed him down the road. To Oncologists Dr. Alexander and Dr. Jaffe, who gave their expertise, to the surgeons who performed such finite work, and to all the extended medical staff and personal — from radiation to infusion — gratitude is not sufficient. Stanford and Dominican opened their doors to a stranger. We are thankful for those who kept vigil, childhood chums, motorcycle buddies, and his female harem, who kept him happy and entertained. Lastly, we thank Kat Kelly, who gave Mike nine days of unflinching care and love.
A San Lorenzo Valley native and SLVHS graduate, Mike was a carpenter by trade, licensed contractor in Oregon, and wood worker by hobby. He is survived by parents Joe and Donna, and extended family. Mike was both loyal and funny, and will be missed by those he knew.
Mike will rest in Felton Cemetery with no services scheduled.
Please make donations in his name to Hospice of Santa Cruz County.
