David Scott “Scott” Hunter of Scotts Valley was among the graduates at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) commencement ceremonies held on June 5 in Cambridge Massachusetts.
Scott received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. He was able to complete his degree requirements in three years while maintaining a GPA of 5.00 (A=5 at MIT).
Scott will begin a PhD program in Operations Research at MIT in August. Operations Research is a discipline that applies advanced analytical methods to make better decisions in a broad variety of areas.
The doctoral program involves faculty from eight MIT departments including computer science, mathematics, physics, and engineering and is administered through the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
Scott is a 2012 graduate of Scotts Valley High School and is the son of David and Stephanie Hunter of Scotts Valley.
