Sunday, September 13, between 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., two people reportedly walked out of Scopazzi’s Restaurant without paying their bill. A restaurant employee followed the two, a man and a woman, into the parking lot to ask for payment. Instead of paying, the man allegedly stabbed the employee and another patron who was also in the parking lot.
According to Lt. Kelly Kent, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, the two victims sustained stab wounds that were not fatal. He said that the victims could not describe the weapons because they did not see them. They thought that they had been punched. Kent said “they did not realize they had been stabbed until they discovered they were bleeding.”
Witnesses described the two assailants as a young white male with what appeared to be brown hair and a blonde woman appearing to be in her early 30s.They got into a dark colored car and allegedly tried to run over bystanders in the parking lot. They left the scene going north on Highway 9, according to the witnesses.
The two victims were treated, and on Monday, Kent said they were doing well.
