TheMountain Community Theater proudly presents “The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild,” written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paul Zindel and directed byErik Gandolfi.
Performances will be at Ben Lomond’s Park Hall, 9400 Mill St., from Friday, October 2, through Sunday, October 25. Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 8:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon matinees are at 2:00 p.m.
This comedy encompasses a touching story about a couple who are living on the edge of a catastrophe as they are about to lose their business and their home. The wife, Mildred, resorts to escapism and is living in dream world inspired by the 3,000 movies that she has watched. The husband escapes into overeating and having affairs with other women.
The fast paced action brings people and conditions into Mildred’s life that further complicates her impossible situation. In Mildred’s world, she is visited by bulldozers, King Kong, a nun, and a super efficient TV camera crew which all add to the merriment and poignancy of the play. Mildred romps through escapades that are as hilarious as they are touching and bring her to a totally unpredictable solution at the climax of the play.
Our heroine, Mildred, is played by MCT veteran Hannah Eckstein. Alongside Hannah are both local favorites and newcomers to MCT, including Jackson Wolffe, Kathie Kratochvil, David Leach, Julia Cunningham, Shireen Doyle, Marty Lee Jones, Donna Young-Fasolas, Jen Egeland, and Andrew Crocker.
