On November 14, 2015 San Lorenzo Valley High School beat hosts Harbor High 47-21 in the last regular game of the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League season.
Scott Potzinger had 15 carries for 153 yards, Brighton Hart had 2 carries for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns, Nick Salibi threw 7-10 for 138 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception.
One week later, in the 47-34 Central Coast Section Division V playoffs loss at Half Moon Bay, Brighton Hart had 10 carries for 117 yards, crossing the coveted 1,000 yards milestone for the season. He ended up carrying for 1,013 yards.
Aptos High School repeated last year’s SCCAL championship with a concise 35-12 win over hosts Scotts Valley High on November 13. Without injured star RB Troy Menna and sputtering offense, Falcons were no match for the 5-0 Mariners.
Scotts Valley took the league’s second spot, which qualified them for the playoffs. They beat visiting Menlo-Atherton in CCS Division V playoffs on Saturday, November 21, 28-14.
They will visit Pacific Grove High for the semifinal game this Friday, November 27.
Cross-country
On Saturday, November 14, 2015 Division IV Central Coast Sections held at the Crystal Springs Cross Country Course in Belmont, San Lorenzo Valley boys’ team took second place.
Placing fourth, Falcons’ John Ross was the top individual runner from Santa Cruz County.
Both teams qualified for the November 28 California Interscholastic Federation’s State Cross Country Championships in Fresno.
Girls’ tennis
In the Central Coast Section Doubles Championships, Scotts Valley High’s Desi Rakela/Elena Weingord won their 1st round match against Leland, 6-4, 6-3, but didn’t make it past the quarterfinals, losing to Los Altos, 6-0, 6-1. That ended a magnificent season, as the Lady Falcons were unbeaten in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League.
