Credit cards

The Scotts Valley Police Department recovered a credit card “skimming” device from a gas pump at a local service station on Mt. Hermon Road. The device was located inside the pump by a technician doing routine maintenance.
This particular type of device steals your credit card information when you make a purchase at the pump. Unlike other devices, this device was not visible to customers. The pump in question was serviced one week prior and no device was discovered at that time.
The SVPD recommends that everyone should check their credit card and bank statements regularly for inaccuracies and or for fraudulent charges in an effort to prevent identity theft. For further information and resources regarding identity theft please visit the Attorney General’s website at https://oag.ca.gov/privacy. Annual credit checks to monitor your accounts can also be completed free of charge at https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action.
