First Santa Cruz Maker Faire seeking vendors

The first annual Santa Cruz Mini Maker Faire will be hosted on Saturday, April 16^th, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gateway School, 126 Eucalyptus Ave., Santa Cruz. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community. The call for Makers, Artists, Performers, and Crafters is open now through March 15. Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. Any groups or individuals interested in presenting their project, activity, or performance in this event should complete the application at makerfairesantacruz.com/makers.
Originally, the event was launched by the editors of Make: magazine in 2006 in San Mateo, California. Maker Faire in 2015 celebrated over 150 Faires in over 30 countries, reaching over 1.1 million attendees. The tenth annual Maker Faire Bay Area welcomed some 1,100 makers and 140,000 attendees.
This community-based learning event aims to inspire the public through do-it-yourself science, technology and art, hands-on workshops, panels, and much more. There is plenty to see but also plenty to do with our workshop series. Makers of all ages and skill levels will be able to partake in workshops where they can learn how to solder, screen print their own T-shirts, and more! Participants will also be able to feast on culinary creations provided by a variety of local food trucks and restaurants.
Organizations interested in supporting the Mini Maker Faire and the local maker community are encouraged to become sponsors. Sponsorships exist in a variety of forms, including corporate, media, community, and in-kind. Sponsors will be able to reach an estimated 2,000 event attendees, as well as have their brand promoted through the event’s marketing efforts.
