The community fundraising event at Joe’s Bar in Boulder Creek on July 27 raised more than $4,300 to help the family that operated the Trout Farm Inn destroyed by fire June 5, according to organizers.
Jim Vernazza, owner of Vernazza Painting in Felton, said that adding proceeds from a continuing online fundraising campaign for Kelly and Yvonne McGuire brought the total raised to more than $10,000.
Vernazza said 17 of the more than 80 attendees won raffle prizes.
“It was a good night for the McGuires,” he said.
He said the fundraising is continuing, with donations requested to be sent to the McGuires at P.O. Box 315, Felton, CA 95017.
The support bridged several communities.
Joe’s Bar owners Diane Stasser and Gina Trepagnier opened their tavern for the event, and Jim Geary, owner of the Cowboy Bar and Grill in Felton provided food. Lisa Ann Crivello, manager of the Bank of America branch in Scotts Valley, presided at the raffle.
