Goodwill Central Coast, which opened its new retail store and donation center in Scotts Valley last week, will continue to use its former site as a specialty retail center at least through the end of year.
The former retail and donation center site, at 103 Whispering Pines Drive, Scotts Valley, will be transformed into a “pop-up” Halloween costume store, followed in November by holiday items, said Ed Durkee, CEO of Goodwill Central Coast.
The regional Goodwill operation celebrated the grand opening of its new Scotts Valley retail store and donation center with a ribbon cutting on Sept. 8 in Kings Village Shopping Center.
Goodwill also announced earlier this year its plans to move its headquarters from Santa Cruz to Salinas.
The new store, at 224 Mt. Hermon Road in the Kings Village Shopping Center, will be Goodwill’s largest retail site on the Central Coast, with 8,000 square feet of retail space and another 7,000 square feet of donation center space.
The new store will not only feature more merchandise, but also will add jobs, eight at the new store and additional employees at the former store site.
Goodwill Central Coast’s programs and operations include three career centers, two training academies, 18 stores and two material handling facilities.  For more information, visit ccgoodwill.org.
