I am writing this letter to give our personal thank you to each and every one who prayed for us and gave us your thoughts, sent cards and flowers and whatever else you could have possibly done to help us through the two months of hospital stay and this last month of home recuperation we have endured.
Hubby Norm’s spinal surgery, coupled with heart and lung complications, are hopefully behind us now.  Watching my Hubby in the intensive care unit left me feeling hopeless and unable to help in any way but be there.  Your life changes instantly; at night and home alone, you wonder if your life will ever be the same again.  His chair looks so empty now.
You pray more than you ever have, you make promises to the Almighty that you know you can’t keep; you are so grateful for the cards, flowers, phone calls, emails and all the love that everyone and anyone does for you.
Words cannot express our thoughts.  We are so fortunate to know and have the relationships of each one of you, and to be able to live in this community where people are so concerned and are so willing to give you a helping hand; this has been a great gift to us.
I think of each of you as I watch my dear Hubby slowly walking, once again, straight and tall and we are reminded of how fortunate we are to have the exceptional surgeons at Stanford Hospital and the knowledgeable doctors and staff of nurses at Dominican Hospital.
Norm and I are thankful for all.  And yes, I am confident our life will, once again, be the same as before.
I send you this with great affection.
