The Valley Women’s Club and Monterey Bay Air Resources District are sponsoring the third annual art contest for San Lorenzo Valley children.
The theme is “Burn Clean to Breathe Easier” in which the kids can show how smoke is an unhealthy condition for kids and adults with asthma.
The contest began as an idea generated from local citizens and organized by Santa Cruz County Fifth District Supervisor Bruce McPherson. The Valley Women’s Club Environmental Committee is also supporting the art contest to raise environmental awareness and improve air quality in SLV.
The artwork must be created on an 8½ by 11 inch paper, with the child’s name, grade, school name, and phone number on the back. They can use any medium.
The art must be submitted to the offices at BC Elementary, SLV Elementary, SLV Middle, or SLV High schools by Nov. 1. The winners will be announced at the SLV School District Board Meeting on Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m.
