Tiffany Verbica of Felton earned the women’s Masters medal after completing the grueling Tahoe Trifecta half marathons.
The three-day set of races from Friday through Sunday took place at an average altitude of 6,225 feet above sea level. The Nevada Half Marathon on Friday took runners from Spooner Summit south of Reno to Incline Village. On Saturday, runners trekked from Carnelian Bay along the Lake Tahoe shore to Homewood from the Carnelian Bay Half Marathon. On Sunday Verbica and others ran South Shore from Emerald Bay to Lakeside Beach where they were greeted by cheering fans and bagpipes.
Verbica was the second fastest woman to run the half marathon Friday with a time of 1:46:16, earning her the No. 1 Master’s female for women ages 40 and over.
Verbica was the second-fastest woman in her age group on Saturday with a time of 1:48:54, earning another Master’s medal.
Verbica finished strong on Sunday with a time of 1:47:42, making her the fastest woman in her age group yet again.
In a news release about the race, Verbica wrote about her motivation to be the best, “The faster you run, the faster you finish.”
