The Mint will be missed — Bob McMurtry

Dear editor,
We heard the sad news regarding the best eating establishments in Scotts Valley, the Mint. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place everyone can call home. Ed, our host, knowing every person by name after one visit.
I have been visiting The Mint for many years. There isn’t a place to equal the class and quality of their gourmet food accented by Ed’s professional knowledge and carefully chosen wines. The welcome feeling meets you at the door with a smile, pleasant music in the background. It is a pity the new owner does not realize how vital the place is for many of us who seek a fine food and excellent wine.
Concern about parking had been mentioned, which has never been a problem for us. If we examine the past, it’s been years without any major problems. People are willing to park wherever necessary to experience the quality atmosphere of The Mint. It may be too late to save this gem of Scotts Valley but I hope the owner can reconsider. Ed and Kelly have worked very hard over the years to bring us superior service and a quality experience.
