The results are in, and the Scotts Valley Police Athletic League football teams are set to complete another successful season.
Junior Peewee
The team finished the season with a 0-0 tie that they lost in overtime. Quarterback Daniel Rogers and running back Tanner Gilton have led the offense, along with Ryan Johnston and Carson Spence. On defense, the team had strong play from Joshua Eskew and Joe Murray.
Peewee
Quarterback Nick Reyes led the team to an 8-1 regular-season record, with their only loss to out-of-conference Alameda, which finished the season unbeaten.
Kicker Christy Trotter routinely added the extra point, which counts for two points in this age group, officials say, because so few kids can kick. Trotter has also blasted several field goals of more than 35 yards.
Running backs Ashtyn Davis and Trevor Alvarez led the team in scoring this season.
The peewees won their first playoff game, 32-0, and play this Sunday at PAL Stadium in San Jose.
Junior midgets
Led by quarterback Connor Maliesky, the team finished with a 6-2 regular-season record, with notable offensive play from Kiell Johnson and Kirk Booth and strong defensive efforts from Evann Beverly and Christian Rebottaro.
Midgets
With 18 boys, this small team battled through a number of close games to finish the season 3-5.
Cheer
The teams competed in the PAL Cheer competition last weekend and took home medals. The Junior Peewee and peewee squads took home bronze medals, and the midgets won silver. All three mascots participated in the routines.
The midget team will head to Anaheim for nationals in February after taking fourth in the USA Cheer competition two weeks ago.
