I was surprised to learn that until the election last October, the San Lorenzo Valley Water Board had been providing funding for educational projects, and I was surprised that a few community members were upset that our newly elected directors were practicing fiscal restraint and discontinuing that practice.
I recall that while Mr. Swan was running for a position on the board, he set up a table in various public locations so he could meet with ratepayers and learn about their concerns. He reported that people were struggling to pay their bills and that at least one person, in an effort to save costs, was taking showers every other day.
In my opinion, educational projects should be funded by charitable organizations instead of by SLV rate payers.
Our water bills should reflect the cost of providing clean water to the community rather than being used to fund private projects.
