Ribbon-cutting marks milestone in Scotts Valley’s post-pandemic recovery

The evening sun shone golden on a jovial outdoor gathering at Kings Village Shopping Center on June 24, as the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce declared the city open for business.

The symbolic gesture, representing progress made by the U.S. government in rolling vaccines out to citizens, celebrated the removal of many cautionary coronavirus restrictions with a ribbon-cutting, prize draws and optimistic speeches.

Bruno’s Bar & Grill provided the food and margaritas, and other beverages flowed courtesy of Kissed by an Angel Wines.

The Chamber also fêted its newest member, Corvin Legal Services, run by Cami Corvin, an AM 1080 KSCO talk radio DJ.

Danny Reber, the Chamber’s executive director, lauded the work of the Scotts Valley Economic Recovery Task Force during difficult months.

City Councilman Randy Johnson described Scotts Valley as a metaphorical phoenix rising from the ashes of a painful year that included actual fires, which temporarily displaced local residents.

Corbett Wright, of CW Land Consultants, Inc., won a bottle of wine during giveaways, which also included donated wetsuits as one of the prizes.

Johnson was awarded a “Certificate of Awesomeness,” alongside Angela Marshall, the Chamber’s operations director, and Victor Alejandro, a Chamber board member.
