Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley is best known for the Music at Sky Park Festivals held every summer that support the music programs at local schools.
This year the festivals will be held on the last Sundays of August (Aug. 27) and September (Sept. 24). Look for posters showing up around town soon.
The local Kiwanis Club also helps keep the highway clean. Armed with trash bags and grabbers Saturday morning, July 29, a team of seven hearty members recently took on about 2.5 miles of the southbound shoulder of Highway 17 starting at the Granite Creek Road entrance.
“Thanks to a major brush clearing by Caltrans, we easily covered our portion of the highway, back to the fence line in many areas, and collected 11 bags of trash,” said Linda Benko, coordinator.
Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley meets every Wednesday morning at 7am for breakfast at Auntie Mames, on the corner of Scotts Valley Drive and Mount Hermon Road. Any residents with an interest in giving back to the city and kids through community service are invited to join.
