Highway 17 southbound near Mt. Hermon Road poses severe wildfire risk
The Highway 17 southbound corridor approaching Mt. Hermon Road and the right turn area to Mt. Hermon Road, very near the Bay Tree Apartments in Scotts Valley, 100% fails the below Cal Fire safety tips.
Wildfires often start near roadways. On a windy day, these areas are at great safety risk.
“Some tips offered by Cal Fire to help Californians prepare for fires include: Clear all dead and or dying vegetation 100 feet from around all structures, landscape with fire resistant plants and non-flammable ground cover, find alternative ways to dispose of landscape debris like chipping or hauling it to a biomass energy or green waste facility.”
