Scotts Valley senior running back Eli Velez finished with 250 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries for the Falcons in a 48-14 victory over Watsonville in Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division–North football action Oct. 26.
With the win, Scotts Valley improved to 2-2 in league play.
Sophomore quarterback Ryder Quilici had 180 passing yards and three touchdowns. Isaac Currie, Caden Kilpatrick and Seamus Drees each hauled in one TD reception.
Two-way lineman Khaliel Millhouse got his shining moment after he scored a 5-yard rushing touchdown.
Patrick Miller-Brown and Anthony Razo each had one touchdown for the Wildcatz.

Scotts Valley 129, at San Lorenzo Valley 166: Lauren Ohlsson shot a 27 to earn medalist honors for the Falcons in a victory over the Cougars in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play Oct. 15.
Ohlsson recorded pars on the first, third, fifth and sixth holes at Boulder Creek Golf Course. Maisey Chard shot a 28 as she birdied on the first hole and shot par on the fifth.
Other scorers for Scotts Valley included Lizzie Goldfield (31) and Becca Ervine (43).
Sadie Bell shot a 37 to lead SLV, followed by Reagan Atkinson (41), Lexi Muñoz (43) and Ella Cook (45).
With the win, the Falcons improved to a 9-0 record in SCCAL play, while the Cougars dropped to 6-3.
Girls tennis
Scotts Valley 6, San Lorenzo Valley 1: With just six players available to play, the Cougars defaulted at No. 3 and 4 singles, and at No. 3 doubles in a loss to the Falcons in SCCAL play on Oct. 17.
Scotts Valley seniors Sofia Niklaus and Isabella Padilla each won their matches in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
In doubles play, Scotts Valley seniors Skylar Dufour and Dillon Fiorita at No. 1. And in the most competitive match of the day, SLV’s Cassidy Collier and Claire Hamilton defeated Scotts Valley sophomores Zicheng Zeng and Alina Charley in a three set tiebreaker 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 2.
Scotts Valley 6, Santa Cruz 1: In a match that took two days to complete, the Falcons defeated the Cardinals in SCCAL play Oct. 14.
In Monday’s continuation of matches, senior Ava Keller sealed Scotts Valley’s team win with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles. The Falcons duo of seniors Dillon Fiorita and Georgia Chetcuti combined for a 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 1-0 (11-9) closely fought win at No. 3 doubles. Santa Cruz defaulted at No. 2 doubles.
The match began Oct. 10 with Scotts Valley winning three singles matches and Santa Cruz winning at No. 1 doubles.
Scotts Valley junior Aila Papadopoulos won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, senior Sofia Niklaus won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 and senior Erin Szymanski won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3.
In doubles play, Scotts Valley’s tandem of Maya Wexler and Riya Kuriakose were defeated 6-3, 6-2.
Games of the Week
Scotts Valley at San Lorenzo Valley, girls volleyball, Thursday at 6:30pm: The Falcons (15-7, 6-4) and Cougars (2-11, 1-8) will battle on the court in the teams’ regular season and SCCAL finale in Felton.
Scotts Valley vs. St. Francis, prep football, Thursday at 7:30pm: The Falcons (3-5, 2-2) bounced back into form and will take on the Sharks (5-2, 2-1), who is coming off a 33-27 loss to Alisal, under the lights at Cabrillo College.
San Lorenzo Valley vs. Santa Cruz, prep football, Saturday at 12:30pm: The Cougars are off to a 7-0 start and sit atop of the PCAL Santa Lucia Division standings with 3-0 record in league play. SLV will look to keep things rolling in its Homecoming game against the Cardinals (1-7, 1-3), who snapped a 19-game losing streak with a 57-49 win over Marina.
