The air in Ben Lomond will soon be filled with warmth and holiday spirit as the mountain community comes together for a brand-new tradition: an annual Holiday Tree Lighting Party. On Sunday, Dec. 1, from 4-7pm, the Ben Lomond Fire Department will host this festive gathering that promises fun, connection and seasonal cheer.

Organized by the Ben Lomond Village Alliance (BLVA), the Holiday Tree Lighting Party is designed to be a family-friendly celebration that welcomes people of all ages to kick off the holiday season together. Attendees can expect an array of free activities to keep the evening buzzing with excitement.

Children and families will have a chance to participate in ornament decorating at designated activity tables, while the sounds of live holiday music performed by local groups and musicians will set the tone for a festive and joyous evening.

Adding to the holiday spirit, the highlight of the evening will be the lighting of a holiday tree in front of the Ben Lomond Firehouse—a moment intended to symbolize unity and the beginning of the festive season in Ben Lomond. The ceremony is expected to draw friends, families and neighbors, creating a sense of togetherness.

To contribute to local goodwill, attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, which will be donated to Valley Churches United, supporting those in need during the holiday season.

Heidi Castagna, Board President of the BLVA, expressed excitement about this new Ben Lomond event: “This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the holiday season by lighting up the Winter darkness. We invite everyone to join us in making this a memorable start to what we hope will become an annual tradition.”

For those looking to stay warm while enjoying the festivities, a variety of seasonal refreshments will be available. Cider, hot chocolate and holiday treats will be offered, adding a touch of cozy comfort to the crisp winter evening. Guests are encouraged to don their most festive red attire to add to the cheerful atmosphere.

The event will feature performances from local groups and musicians, infusing the firehouse with melodies that resonate with holiday joy. The BLVA’s commitment to creating engaging, community-centered events shines through in every detail of the tree lighting party. By fostering shared experiences that highlight the vibrancy of Ben Lomond, the BLVA continues to honor its mission of strengthening community bonds and celebrating local heritage.

Admission to the event is free, although donations are welcome to help support local causes and maintain the tradition in years to come. To help organizers plan, attendees are encouraged to RSVP online at the BLVA events webpage (benlomondvillage.org/events). Free parking will be available at the nearby Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 9545 Love Creek Road.

Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, the Tree Lighting Party is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the spirit of the season and connect with your community. With holiday tunes, the sparkle of lights, and warm, friendly faces, this event is set to become a beloved annual tradition in Ben Lomond.

Come celebrate, make memories, and be part of the holiday magic that makes Ben Lomond such a special place.
