Candidate filing for the June 2, 2026, statewide primary election opens Monday, Feb. 9, and runs through March 6, according to the Santa Cruz County Clerk/Elections Department.
Offices on the ballot include statewide constitutional positions; the 18th and 19th Congressional Districts; the 28th, 29th and 30th state Assembly districts; countywide offices including assessor-recorder, auditor-controller-treasurer-tax collector, county clerk and county superintendent of schools; county supervisor seats in the third and fourth districts; six Superior Court judgeships; and Santa Cruz mayor and City Council seats in the fourth and sixth districts.
Candidates must file nomination papers with the required number of valid signatures, a declaration of candidacy and a Fair Political Practices Commission Form 700. Candidate statements are optional and subject to word limits and filing deadlines depending on the office. Filing fees range from 1% to 2% of the office’s annual salary.
