Motorists traveling on Highway 9 north of Boulder Creek will face a full overnight closure Wednesday, July 1, as crews continue work on the Highway 9 San Lorenzo River and Kings Creek Bridge Replacement Project, according to Caltrans.
The closure is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Pool Drive and Primavera Road/Old County Highway at the Kings Creek Bridge. During the closure, construction crews will begin setting new precast girders for the southbound portion of the replacement bridge.
A detour will be available via Highway 17, with message boards and directional signs posted in advance of the closure. Caltrans advises motorists to allow extra travel time. Residents living near the project area can also expect overnight construction noise.
Once the closure ends, temporary traffic signals will return to 24-hour, one-way traffic control beginning the morning of July 2.
The one-way traffic control is part of the ongoing replacement of the Kings Creek Bridge, between post miles 15.41 and 15.55, and the San Lorenzo River Bridge, between post miles 13.58 and 13.69. During the project’s first phase, the southbound lane remains closed while crews replace the southbound portions of both bridges.
Caltrans said the July 1 closure is one of several overnight closures planned during construction. Additional updates will be provided as future closures are scheduled.
