Every Vote Counts

I would like to urgently call upon my fellow citizens, indeed, I beseech you, to vote in the Nov. 3 election. Yeah, yeah, I realize the message is trite and many people don’t need to hear it. That’s fine, see you at the polls.

On the other hand, apathy will kill our beloved American experiment. Democracy requires participation. If all the reputable news outlets are telling you that the polls are showing your candidate with a sizable lead, it’s easy to let the other guy, or gal, do the voting for you.

“They don’t need my vote, they have it covered.” But what if the other guy or gal is thinking the same thing? What if the polls are wrong? Go vote!

This country belongs to those who vote. Don’t let others decide your fate; if you don’t vote, don’t complain. Go vote!

Felton Roads Need Safety Fixes

Has anyone noticed in the last four months all the weeds growing in the cement median as you come into downtown Graham Hill Road and Highway 9 In Felton? I have been complaining for three months and getting the runaround from Caltrans, the fire department and many other places I have called to chop this fire hazard of overgrown weeds down.

A big thanks to “Victor” from the Santa Cruz County roads/transit division who got this cleaned up this week and called the right people. Felton must have some gardeners that need to plant some nice looking plants to greet people, not weeds.

Now Victor’s next big project is another issue no one seems to care about: the intersection of Mt Hermon Road and Graham Hill Road in Felton. At the light, many people enter the intersection and block the traffic coming into Felton. It needs a “Do Not Block” lettering painted on the surface.

Also going up Mt Hermon Road from Felton, two lanes go into one lane, but the two arrows have been paved over and have not been painted in. The white side stripes have faded out. A few people still walk this crowded truck road and they are going to get hit.

Let’s see if Victor can get this done before El Niño hits.
