EDITOR,
As many residents of the San Lorenzo Valley are already aware, our slice of paradise is subject to almost every type of disaster that occurs in nature. Earthquakes, winter storms, windstorms, wildfires, floods, fallen trees and power lines, mudslides and so on all affect our lives.
When disasters strike, your local emergency responders are often overwhelmed with calls. Roads may be blocked, preventing help from arriving in a timely manner, or you may be required to evacuate.
The Felton Fire Protection District invites its residents to attend a three-hour emergency preparedness class, “Are You Ready?” This program will help you prepare a family plan and show you how to put together an emergency kit and what to do when disaster strikes.
Join us at Felton Fire, 131 Kirby St., at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, for the first presentation. More presentations will be planned based on interest.
This class is open to all residents of the Felton Fire Protection District. Seats are limited to 20, so please register at www.feltonfire.com or 335-4422.
Fire Capt. Ray Soler, Felton
