Baymonte Christian School collected 361 plastic boxes full of hygienic supplies, toys and various toiletries that will travel around the world this holiday season as part of the
nationwide effort, Operation Christmas Child.
“It was neat to see all the things that were in each of them,” said Principal Steve Patterson, noting toothpaste, soap, washcloths, toys, candy and more.
The boxes will be sent to Santa Cruz Bible Church and on to a Samaratin’s Purse distribution center in Los Angeles before being shipped to children in developing nations around the world.
The school filled more boxes than it had ever done before in the five or six years the school has participated in the program, Patterson said. The school surpassed its goal of 300 boxes, and collected nearly as many boxes as the 376 students at the school.
“I’m really proud of the kids and their parents – in a tough time and tough economy,” Patterson said.
