Scotts Valley Performing Arts will present “Annie Get Your Gun” as its 2011 fall musical.
The classic musical by Herbert and Dorothy Fields, with music by Irving Berlin, is the story of Annie Oakley, a sharpshooter from Ohio and her husband, Frank Butler.
In 1946, the production opened on Broadway as a huge hit and traveled to London. Film and TV versions followed, and now local actors and actresses will bring it to the Bethany University Theater.
SVPA’s production will feature local musical educator Zina Urquhart as Annie Oakley; Aptos’ David Jackson as leading man Frank Butler; San Jose’s Bryan Martin as Wild West Show manager Charlie Davenport; Vanessa Alvarez of Boulder Creek as the sultry yet desperate Dolly Tate; and a cast of nearly 30 Santa Cruz County actors and actresses.
Paul Sawyer directs, Rachel Nachison is the music director, and Jennifer Gorgulho is choreographer.
