hole-in-one

Bruce Barlow made a hole-in-one at Valley Gardens Golf Course on Sunday, Oct. 26, and it wasn’t the first time.
“After about 30 years of playing, I thought I was never going to get a hole-in-one,” he said. “Then I got one just three years ago, and then I thought I would never get another one, and here we go again.”
The miracle shot happened at the ninth hole at Valley Gardens, just before 10 a.m. on Sunday morning.
After a second round of golf, Barlow used a nine iron and hit the ball 118 yards, said Valley Gardens’ head golf professional, Bob Chase. “Another miracle at Valley Gardens.”
Barlow’s friend and golf partner, Wayne Negro, witnessed the perfect shot and called it truly amazing.
“I was sitting on the bench and he was teeing off and once he hit it I said, ‘Wow, that looks pretty good Bruce,’” Negro said.  “It bounced on the green, bounced one more time, and then it just kept rolling and rolling and rolling and went right in.”
That was Negro’s second time witnessing Barlow score a hole-in-one, having witnessed Barlow’s first hit in September of 2011.
“He teed off first and then I teed off and I was trying to hit it as straight as I could — and boy, did I — it was dead on the flag stick all the way,” Barlow said. “I didn’t hit it quite as flush as I would have liked to, but it turned out for the best.”
