Applications are now being accepted for the City of Scotts Valley’s 2026 Citizens Academy, which offers residents an inside look at city government and local services.

The application period runs through Feb. 20, with applicants to be notified of their selection status on March 6. The academy provides an overview of city operations, including public safety, city planning, parks and recreation and finance, and gives participants an opportunity to meet city staff and ask questions. Presentations will also be made by the Fire District, School District and Water District.

The program is open to residents interested in learning more about local government, including long-time community members, new residents and those considering running for local office.

Meetings will be held from 5:30-8pm on Mondays in the City Council Chambers unless otherwise noted. Sessions are scheduled for March 30; April 13, 20 and 27; May 4 and 11, with the May 11 meeting held at the Scotts Valley Water District’s Santa Margarita Community Room; and May 18. Some sessions may include tours or field trips.

Applications must be submitted online at tinyurl.com/5cjkz7au. Paper applications are also available at City Hall or by contacting Cathie Simonovich at cs*********@**********ey.gov or 831-440-5608.
